Recent updations by ICAI has released the new revised scheme for CA new syllabus 2018. They declared changes in all three levels i.e. Foundation, inter and final following “CA new syllabus 2018” and have announced its applicability. “In Revised Scheme, the technical competence, professional skills, and professional values, ethics and attitudes expected from a CA are being redefined and upgraded in order to gear up aspiring Chartered Accountants to take on new roles”.



  • The new syllabus will be reviewed regularly and all levels of the course will witness changes
  • The course will be divided into phases for easier comprehension of students
  • The new scheme is in accordance with International Education Standards of the International Federation of Accountants
  • The new scheme would have ‘Transparent Examination System’ and vibrant course structure giving students the option of choosing their career profile
  • At the foundation level, the methodology of assessment from ‘Objective’ to ‘Descriptive’ to assess the communication and presentation skills, two new subjects of ‘Business Correspondence and Reporting and Business and Commercial’ knowledge have been introduced.

With Goods and Services Tax (GST) making an impact on all the sectors, on the education front also, aspiring candidates planning to become chartered accountants will soon have to sit for an extra exam on GST.

As reported, the weightage of GST-related questions would be 10 marks. Further, from May 2018, the exam will carry full 100 marks.


CA CPT now revised CA Foundation as per changes in CA syllabus 2018 includes 4 papers as mentioned below:

  • Paper-1: Principles and Practice of Accounting (100 Marks)
  • Paper-2: Business Law & Business Correspondence and Reporting (100 Marks)
    • Section A: Business Law (60 Marks)
    • Section B: Business Correspondence and Reporting (40 Marks)
  • Paper-3: Business Mathematics and Logical Reasoning & Statistics (100 Marks)
    • Part I: Business Mathematics and Logical Reasoning (60 Marks)
    • Part II: Statistics (40 Marks)
  • Paper-4: Business Economics & Business and Commercial Knowledge (100 Marks)
    • Part I: Business Economics (60 Marks)
    • Part II: Business and Commercial Knowledge (40 Marks)

Paper-3 and Paper-4 are objective type papers with negative marking. The Board of Studies issues comprehensive study materials covering all four subjects.


There are 8 papers in CA IPCC or CA Intermediate new scheme from 2016. As per new syllabus; Direct tax laws for 60 marks and Indirect tax laws for 40 Marks. The alterations made in IPCC new syllabus from 2018 are mentioned below:

Paper 1: Accounting (100 Marks)

Paper 2: Corporate Laws & Other Laws (100 Marks)

  • Part I: Corporate Laws (60 Marks)
  • Part II: Other Laws (40 Marks)

  • Section A: Income Tax Law (60 Marks)

Paper 7: Enterprise Information System & Strategic Management (100 Marks)

  • Section A: Enterprise Information System (50 Marks)
  • Section B: Strategic Management (50 Marks)

Paper 8: Financial Management & Economics for Finance (100 Marks)

  • Section A: Financial Management (60 Marks)
  • Section B: Economics for Finance (40 Marks)


There are 8 papers in CA Final new syllabus from 2016. The alterations made in CA Final course are mentioned below:
