Objective of the CFA exam

The CFA finance career course and exam are held in three levels, each of which contains the same topic areas but in different weights. In total, there are 10 subject or topics that any candidate has to pursue while taking up the course.
These include Economics, Quantitative Methods, Alternative Investments, Fixed Incomes, Corporate Finance, Portfolio Management and Wealth Planning, Derivatives, Ethical and Professional Standards, Financial Reporting and Analysis, Alternative Investments and Equity Investments. The total subject weight for level 1 is of 100, but the actual exam weight may differ slightly from the guided curriculum.
The one-time fee payable to the institute is needed at the time of level 1 registration. Along with the program fees of US$ 450 (approx 45,000 INR), you need to pay an exam registration fee that modifies with the time of your registration. If you are registering before 15 February, you will be paying the standard registration fees i.e. US$ 930 (approx 60,450 INR).
But if you are late in registering with the CFA institute your exam registration fees becomes US$ 1,380 (approx 89,700 INR) that is also before 15th of March. The exam mentioned above registration fee covers the cost of topic based practice tests, mobile study app with advanced features, eBooks, interactive guide and a study planner.
In case you change your mind within two business days, you will get a full refund of all the payable fees. But, as the USD to INR rate varies each day, the exact amount of refund cannot be guaranteed by the Institute.
Exam dates for CFA level 1
The early registration process for June 2017 exam opened on 27th July 2016. After the final registration ends in March, test centers are allotted, and center changing application request can be made in this period.
The admit card reaches the candidates within May, and finally, the exam takes place on June 3rd. After the exam, you don’t have to wait too long as the level 1 result is declared within a month of the exam.
The institute has a total of six centers in India that are situated in major cities like Chennai, Kolkata, Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore and Pune. Candidates may choose their study and test center nearest to their home. Other than the six Indian centers, candidates may avail any of the centers worldwide.
The institute is working with the Securities and Exchange Board of India and also the National Institute of Securities market with the aim of strengthening faculty resources in the country’s faculties and universities.
