Latest Exam Format
The CMA exam is held in two parts: 1 and 2. These constitute of two papers as follows:
- Part 1 – Financial Reporting, Planning, Performance, And Control.
- Part 2 – Financial Decision-Making
Each examination has two types of questions:
- 100 multiple-choice questions constituting 75% of the total marks.
- 2 Essay type questions constituting the remaining 25% marks.
Time Allotted:
The time allotted to each exam is 4 hours, out of which 3 hours are given to the multiple-choice questions and 30 minutes for each of the 2 essay type questions. First, the candidates have to answer the multiple-choice questions, and they can start to answer the essay type questions after the expiry of 3 hours or on completion of all the multiple choice questions, whichever is earlier.
A candidate has to answer at least 50% of the multiple-choice questions within the three hours, otherwise, they will not be allowed to answer the essay type questions at all. If they finish the multiple choice questions in less than 3 hours, they are allowed to use the remaining time in answering the essay type questions.
Marks Distribution:
The CMA examinations test the candidates on 11 competencies. The competencies and the weights assigned to them are:

Passing Requirements:
To clear each exam, candidates have to score 360/500, i.e. 72%. Exam scores can be in the range of 0 – 500.
Updates As Compared To Previous Years
