National Institute of Securities Markets is an institute founded and run by Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) in order to propagate educational, training research programs, courses and certifications focused on the deep and strategic subjects of the securities markets.
NISM Certification courses comprise of a variety of such educational and training programs and modules in the financial domains across the whole country as well as abroad.
Online Registration for NISM Certification
Online registration can be completed from the official website. The registration process can be completed by entering and activating valid email account, and attaching mandatory documents like PAN card, last educational proof, passport size photograph. The registration and enrolment can be successfully completed after paying online through credit/debit card or net banking.
The form can also be manually filled offline and the same can be couriered or posted to any of the 6 offices of NSEIL.
Age and Eligibility
There is no age criteria for NISM certifications but the candidates are expected to know basic English and have apt computer knowledge.
The exam dates can be chosen from the available time slots and dates and it is mandatory to choose the examination date within not later than 180 days of the enrolment. Usually the dates available will depend upon the test centre you choose.
Exam dates can be rescheduled only until 15 days before the examination.
The fees for all NISM certification examinations is seventeen hundred and twenty five Indian Rupees (Rs.1725) except for the NISM-Series-V-B for Mutual Fund Foundation Certification Examination for which the fees amount is twelve hundred Indian Rupees (Rs.1200).
The candidates can choose from more than 175 exam centres across all major cities. Also, if the candidate has enrolled directly via NISM, the exam can be given at test centres of all – NISM, BSE and MCX-SX centres.
Preparation and Study Material
The candidates can download soft copy of the study material right after the enrolment procedure, by simply logging in to NISM certification portal. The portal also offers has sample tests for practice. The latest updates and current affairs of the Indian Securities Markets should be known by the candidate before going in for the exam. All the study material is absolutely free of cost, unless the candidate externally purchases some material.
Candidate should preferably reach at least 30 minutes before the exam starts. All the required documents including physical admit card (downloadable by logging in to the NISM account) are to be carefully carried as the invigilator would need to check them. The exam duration is 2 hours and scores are revealed immediately after the exam. The scorecard has to be collected from the invigilator after the exam.
Results and Certificate
The scores are immediately revealed and if it is the passing percentage (60%) or more, the certificate is issued within 15 days of the exam date. If the certificate is not received within 15 days, the candidates can reach out to the NISM helpline.
The validity period of the NISM certificate is 3 years.
Renewal of Certificate
After 3 years of validity, the NISM certificate can be renewed by completing a programme of Continuing Professional Education (CPE) as stated by NISM.
