GATE 2018 notification is out and lakhs of student candidates have already started preparing for the exam that will determine their future. In the race to cover all the bases and revise all the fundamentals of their engineering fields, some ignore the general aptitude for gate. General aptitude for gate is the easiest 15 marks to get if you refer the right GATE aptitude books. The general aptitude section consists of 5 questions carrying one mark each and 5 questions carrying 2 marks each for a total of 15 marks. This section is usually considered less important as it carries only 15 marks, but a little extra effort and studying from the right source can help you secure all 15 of these marks easily. Every mark counts when you are competing with lakhs of other students for better ranks. The questions in general aptitude for GATE can be sorted into 2 sections, Numerical ability and Verbal ability.

General aptitude for GATE is easy to develop, especially in verbal section, apart from these books, reading newspapers regularly, reading novels and non-fiction books in between study breaks helps students relax and improve their vocabulary at the same time.
One thing that should be kept in mind is that, one shouldn’t waste too much time on what book to choose, instead pick up a book and start reading. Don’t stress on the minute things instead, try to look at the big picture. General aptitude for GATE section is something that can make or break it for you in the examination and it only takes a small amount of effort compared to covering specialized field based questions. I would suggest preparing this section of the exam in parallel with other sections by incorporating 30 mins newspaper reading and a few hours of speed tested numerical alternate days.
Assessing your progress every week will also help you in measuring your efforts, this can be done by solving previous years GATE aptitude papers readily available on online blogs and resources. So, start early and with practice and a little hardwork you can easily get these 15 marks in your bag.
