Indian Institute of Technology Ropar (IIT Ropar) is one of the eight new IIT’s established by MHRD in 2011. Started at a temporary campus as of 2017 IIT Ropar is operational at it’s new permanent campus. IIT Ropar was ranked 25 by India Today among engineering colleges, a great achievement for a new IIT.
IIT Ropar opened with 4 engineering and 6 science departments, all of which offered a PH. D programme. As far as MTech is concerned, the following are the departments that offer it at IIT Ropar:
- Computer Science and Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
- Power Engineering.
- Mechanical Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Thermal Engineering (TE)
- Mechanics and Design (MD)
- Manufacturing Engineering (MF)
- Center for Biomedical Engineering
- Biomedical Engineering
Candidates who are seeking admission into these programmes through gate can apply on the application form that will go live tentatively in the 2nd week of March 2018. It would serve the candidates well to first wait for the IIT Ropar gate cutoff to come out. Only the candidates with a gate score equal or higher than the cutoff will be considered for admission. IIT Ropar won’t be participating in the Common Offer Acceptance Portal (COAP) this year and the candidates can deal directly with the institute. Once IIT Ropar gate cutoff is released students can create an account through IIT Ropar’s website and apply for counselling directly there. Apart from the Gate score , some departments take interviews and written tests .
