GATE Cut Offs for IIT Delhi for 2017 & 2016 | Expected cut off for GATE 2018

Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi or IIT Delhi is one of the premier IIT’s in the country. The NIRF 2017 rankings ranked IIT Delhi at number 4 in engineering institutes. The Institute is the dream of every GATE aspirant. IIT Delhi Boasts of notable alumni like flipkart founders Sachin and Binny Bansal along with Rajat Gupta the former MD of Mckinsey. Naturally, making it to IIT Delhi is a very tough task and only students with a good GATE score stand a chance.

GATE Cut Offs for IIT Delhi

Online GATE exam will be conducted by IIT Guwahati on Februrary 3,4 ,10 and 11 and the results are expected on March 17. After the results are out cutoffs will be released by institutes. A cutoff score is the minimum GATE score required to be eligible for admission into an institute. IIT Delhi GATE cutoff is usually high due to obvious reasons. The cutoffs are announced discipline and category wise. There is fluctuation in cutoff each year. These fluctuations are because a number of parameters are taken into account while calculating the GATE cutoffs.

Parameters that affect IIT DELHI GATE cutoffs

  • GATE exam difficulty level for that year.
  • No of seats available.
  • Total number of applicants.

 

Below are the programme wise IIT DELHI GATE cutoffs for 2017 .

1 Atmospheric Sciences
  1. A valid GATE score ≥ 500 in

Mechanical/Production & Industrial Engineering for general and OBC (non‐creamy layer) category students  

(relaxed to 400 for SC/ST /PH category students)

  1. A valid GATE score ≥ 400 in Civil/Chemical/Agriculture/Environment al/Marine Engg/Instrumentation/Engg Phys/

Geological Sc/Engg Sc/Power Engg for general and OBC (non‐creamy layer)  category students   (relaxed to 300 for SC/ST /PH category students)
2 Biomedical Engineering
  1. For Biotech graduates

General: Gate Score > = 570.

OBC-NC: Gate Score > = 520.

SC/ST/PH: Gate Score > = 470.

  1. For other Engineering Graduates.

General : Gate Score > = 500

OBC-NC: Gate Score > = 450

SC/ST/PH : Gate Score > = 400
3 Civil Engineering
  1. General: Gate Score range 429-848.
  2. OBC-NC : Gate Score range 400-792.
  3. SC: Gate Score range 299-634.
  4. ST: Gate Score range 250-634.
  5. PH: Gate Score range 299-634.
4 Energy Studies
  1. General: Gate Score ≥ 700.
  2. OBC-NC : Gate Score  ≥ 630.
  3. SC/ST/PH: Gate Score ≥ 450.
5 Instrumental Technology
  1. General: Gate Score 650
  2. OBC-NC : Gate Score 600
  3. SC: Gate Score 400.
  4. ST: Gate Score 400.
  5. PH: Gate Score 400.
6 Mechanical Engineering
  1. General: Gate Score 725
  2. OBC-NC : Gate Score 650
  3. SC: Gate Score 500.
  4. ST: Gate Score 300.
  5. PH: Gate Score 300.
7 Polymer Science
  • For candidates with background in Chemistry, Physics, Polymer and Rubber Technology, Plastic Technology, Textile and Fibre Science, Textile and Jute Technology, Nanotechnology, Material Science and Engineering.
  • General : GATE score >= 350.
  • OBC: GATE score >= 315.
  • SC/ST/PH: GATE score>= 235.
  • For candidates with Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science and Chemical Technology and Petrochemical Engineering background.
  • General : GATE score >= 500.
  • OBC: GATE score >= 450.
  • SC/ST/PH: GATE score>= 300.
  • For candidates with Mechanical, Production and Industrial Engineering background.
  1. General : GATE score >= 675.
  2. OBC: GATE score >= 605.
  3. SC/ST/PH: GATE score>= 450.
8 Textile Engineering
  • BE / B. Tech. (Textile)
  • General: Gate Score ≥ 400.
  • OBC-NC : Gate Score  ≥ 360.
  • SC/ST/PH: Gate Score ≥ 266.
  • BE / B. Tech. (non Textile) / M.Sc.
  1. General: Gate Score ≥ 550.
  2. OBC-NC : Gate Score  ≥ 495.
  3. SC/ST/PH: Gate Score ≥ 366.
