About Indian Economic Service Exam

The UPSC conducts a combined competitive examination for recruitment to Grade IV officers of the services of Indian Economic and Indian Statistic.

IES 2019

Important Dates

  • Date of Notification: 20th March, 2019
  • Last Date to Apply: 16th April, 2019
  • Date of Exam: 28th June 2019 (3 Days)

Eligibility Criteria

CA CS CMA Free Lectures

Education: You should have post graduate degree from a recognized university in Economics or Applied Economics or Business Economics or Econometrics.

Age: You must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 30 years on 1st August of the year of exam.

Exam Pattern

Part I is written examination carrying a maximum of 1000 marks. The exam is of conventional type. Part II is viva-voce of such candidates as may be called by the Commission, carrying a maximum of 200 marks.

Education: You should have postgraduate degree from an Indian university in Statistics or Applied Statistics or Mathematical Statistics.

Age: You must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 30 years on 1st August of the year of exam.

Exam Pattern (New)

Part I is written examination carrying a maximum of 1000 marks. Part II is viva-voce of such candidates as may be called by the Commission, carrying a maximum of 200 marks.

Statistics I & II are of Objective Type Questions (80 questions with maximum marks of 200 in each paper) to be attempted in 120 minutes. Statistics III & IV are of Descriptive Type having Short Answer/Small Problems Questions (50%) and Long Answer and Comprehension problem questions (50%).
